Many businesses are struggling with understanding app dependencies, accessing technical feasibility, understanding costs, and choosing the right provider.

These three virtual boardroom sessions will look at those issues mentioned above plus other key pain points, including how to overcome the business challenges, understanding the application level, and managing platforms to see how businesses can overcome these obstacles.

Boardroom 1: Top Hybrid Cloud Adoption Challenges

60 minutes

Both success and failure are parts of businesses, and they have a little gap in between and despite being the major strength of some businesses, cloud computing also has its challenges.

The Flexera 2021 State of the Cloud Report reveals cloud computing trends, and whilst it’s no surprise to see 80% of enterprise organisations choosing a hybrid as it gives them greater ability to adapt to change, it does also add complexity. Whilst most organisations have a cloud/digital transformation strategy and a plethora of choice the nuances and intricacies do create uncertainty, slow decision making resulting in delayed execution which can become a costly decision.

We will be focusing on the top 5 cloud adoption challenges identified in the Flexera report and explore with the audience the nature of these challenges, how they have impacted their organisations, and provide insights into how to overcome them.

  • Governance – We will discuss cloud governance, including the rules and protocols organisation should have in place to effectively operate in a cloud environment, enhance data security, manage risks, and keep things running smoothly.
  • Lack of Expertise – We will discuss the impacts of lack of expertise and how to overcome them, examine which skills are in most demand, how they differ from existing IT norms and the benefits of a skilled workforce.
  • Cloud Migration – We will discuss the benefits of cloud migration, including the steps that need to be considered, at the readiness, execution, governance, and catalogue stages of the cloud journey.
  • Security – We will discuss security in the cloud and the policies, controls, procedures, and technologies that work together to protect cloud-based systems, data, and infrastructure.
  • Managing Cloud Spend – We will discuss managing cloud spend, the process of reducing your overall cloud spend by identifying mismanaged resources, eliminating waste, reserving capacity for higher discounts, and Right-Sizing computing services to scale.

Boardroom 2: Tackling the App Modernisation Journey and its Challenges

60 minutes

Virtually all organisations are increasing digital transformation budgets covering all forms of cloud with a high expectation of increased agility and savings. However, most also state that governance issues in the cloud remain unsolved placing more strain on IT resources. The result is that the transformation journey is taking large enterprises especially at least twice as long and costing twice as much as they originally anticipated.

The app modernisation journey has a differing path for every application profile, businesses need a strategy that aligns to digital business transformation, so the objectives are clear and measured. Workload assessment, profiling and migration strategies will dictate the rate of change, if required and there are some key cloud challenges that need to be managed for your migration.

During this session we will zoom into some of the following areas for discussion:

  • The wealth of like-for-like cloud services can make it difficult to choose a cloud service provider.
  • Any dramatic change within an IT environment demands thorough discovery and analysis of current infrastructures before deciding on which elements to migrate.
  • Modernisation is not simply a matter of lift and shift.
  • App modernisation impacts service integration and management strategies, where the end-to-end supply chain is now much more relevant than before.
  • Automation is fundamental to a successful cloud journey, not just during the initial migration, but also during ongoing optimisation of the cloud environment.
  • Future-proofing your cloud strategy.

Boardroom 3: Be Cloud Smart: Choosing the Right Cloud Platforms for Your Digital Transformation

60 minutes

We now live in a multi-cloud world: As organisations continue along their digital transformation journey most are agreed that one cloud platform will not fulfil all their needs. Modern cloud-native applications are becoming more distributed with different clouds delivering different capabilities and Edge computing is exploding, driving the need for data processing in multiple locations. Alongside this, legacy applications are not going away any time soon. Businesses need to have a transformation plan that incorporates multiple cloud platforms to support all these needs, whilst minimising the operational and service integration impact of doing so. Choosing the right cloud platforms and partners is key to a successful digital transformation.

In this session we will explore some of the key things to consider when planning for a successful transformation journey:

  • How do you define the optimal cloud architecture for your business?
  • What is the right approach to app transformation?
  • Is Edge computing changing the requirements for cloud platforms?
  • How do you move all your cloud platforms to a flexible Opex model?
  • In a multi-cloud world, how do you ensure data protection and cyber resilience?
  • In a multi-cloud world is partnering and collaboration becoming more critical than ever?
